چکیده

Background: The quick diagnosis and early initiation of antibiotic therapy in bacteria-induced infections is paramount importance. Accordingly, the rapid identification causative agent, short-term results sensitivity, selection use right antibiotics for treatment further highlights significance this issue. Objectives: This study aimed to develop a new susceptibility testing method provide Escherichia coli clinical isolates report test clinicians short period. Methods: In study, one hundred ten E. were tested. regard, recommended by "Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI)" sensitivity isolates, including amoxicillin-clavulanate, cefixime, ceftriaxone, ertapenem, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, nitrofurantoin For quality control, ATCC25922, ATCC35218, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC29213, 13846NTCC strains used. broth microdilution CLSI was used as reference method. Minimum inhibitory concentration values determined, antimicrobial susceptibilities then determined according “European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST)” criteria. next phase, resazurin microplate (RMM) compared. Results: comparison RMM developed present with revealed that calculated essential agreement ratios eight varied from 82.72 100%, categorical ranged 95.45 100%. Conclusions: According findings, highly allows detection quickly (e.g., within 5 hours) such it preferred, especially laboratories limited facilities. However, multi-center studies are routine laboratories.

Detection of TEM, SHV and CTX-M Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Escherichia coli Isolates from Infected Wounds

ABSTRACT        Background and Objective: Escherichia coli is one of the most common causes of hospital-acquired infections. Extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing E. coli strains are resistant to third-generation cephalosporins. The three main genes involved in ESBL production are TEM, SHV and CTX-M. Detection of ESBL-producing E. coli is of importan...

Antibiotic Resistance in Urinary Isolates of Escherichia coli

Of 176 urine isolates from female students positive for Escherichia coli, 29.6% were trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole resistant and none were nitrofurantoin resistant. Among students with a history of urinary tract infection (UTI) (n = 119), resistance to ciprofloxacin was 11.8%, compared to 1.8% among those without prior UTI. Nitrofurantoin should be considered for empirical therapy of lower trac...

Antibiotic Resistance and Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Escherichia coli Isolates from Hospital Wastewater in Vietnam

The environmental spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria has been recognised as a growing public health threat for which hospitals play a significant role. The aims of this study were to investigate the prevalence of antibiotic resistance and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in Escherichia coli isolates from hospital wastewater in Vietnam. Wastewater samples before and after treatment were c...

Phenotypic and Genotypic Study of Antibiotic Resistance among Escherichia coli Isolates from Human Urinary Infection Cases in Bojnord Province

Background and Objective: Bacterial agents are the most common causes of urinary infection with Escherichia coli as the major causative organism. Accordingly, the current study aimed to determine the antibiotic resistance among Escherichia coli isolates from human urinary infection cases. Materials and Methods: The current experimental study was carried out on 50 specimens of positive cultures...

Antibiotic Resistance Patterns in Enteric and Uropathogenic Strains of Escherichia Coli in Children

Abstract Background and Objective: Escherichia coli is the most common cause of urinary tract infections in children and the leading cause of intra-abdominal infections (peritonitis and abscess) followed intestinal injuries. Urinary tract infection, including cystitis and pyelonephritis, is a common childhood infection. E. coli causes more than 90 percent of the community acquired and 50% of ho...
